Prayer Request For Peace

The past few weeks have been a bit rough. About 3 weeks ago, Mr Boy had some pretty traumatic medical stuff done to him and I was the one who had to do it, in our home. It was probably the worst thing I've ever had to do to him, and I was sobbing and trembling afterwards and I wasn't even the one in pain and terror.  Even I can't imagine what it was like for Mr Boy, in his mind. Ever since that day, Mr Boy has started to have panic attacks. They seem to come from nowhere and are very real and intense.  The only way we can stop the screaming/thrashing/panicking is to put him in his crib where he apparently feels safe and he will then refuse to let us get him out of the crib. This sometimes lasts for 40 minutes. Then all of the sudden it is over and he is back to happy, silly Mr Boy again, like nothing happened. We literally tried everything. It's kind of hard to go anywhere for fear of one of these attacks happening in public, we avoid church the most it seems, as it has always been a source of fear for him since it's the only place we've ever left him in a childcare setting. This past week he had one every day. He is also getting increasingly scared to go to the community playgroup we usually attend 3 days a week. This morning when we went, he didn't even leave my arms before we were back in the car heading home due to his fear of the other kids. :(

Mr Boy's Pediatrician, suggested a Child Counselor in town who works with kids experiencing Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). I don't really want to believe that Mr Boy has ptsd, but honestly, considering what this child has been through and now that he is old enough to attempt to process what is happening to him, it is a very real possibility. I don't really know how much a counselor will help a 2 year old with his fears, but I do know PRAYER can move mountains and so I am asking for your prayer support for Mr Boy. We realize the real battle is a spiritual one, and are enlisting you prayer warriors for help. We know it's only been 3 weeks, but watching Mr Boy when he is in that state, is painful. Please pray for peace for our son, for all the fears to be dispelled, and however the Lord leads you to pray. Thank you!

2 Timothy 1:7 (ESV)
For God gave us a spirit not of fear, but of power and love and self-control.

Philippians 4:7 (NIV)
And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Ephesians 6:12 (NIV)
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

  2. Kassy - Bill and I will definitely be praying. Having watched our grandson for the past 5 years, since the sudden
death of his older sister, I firmly believe very young children can experience PTSD. If you would like to talk about
this, please feel free to call us: (507) 227-5764. Maggie

  3. Kassy - My name is Shari. I work with Kathleen. She asked me to pray for you all before Asher's surgery.
Today I read your concerns about PTSD and child counselors. It struck a chord and it seemed imperative to respond.
I know it is scary and hard and confusing. Still I want to encourage you to try the counselor. Twenty+ yeas ago I was amazed at what the doctor was able to discern from my 5yo daughter. The therapist really helped her! A 2yo is more challenging I'm sure, but think about the 20 years of advances.
Please, give it a try. For at least a few weeks/sessions. If you're still not comfortable or don't see any change, discontinue.
You guys have already been through so much 'scary' stuff I can't even imagine. Don't be afraid to try. On my umpteenth ER visit for my daughter, the Lord gave me this verse I want to share with you today:
For I am the Lord your God
who takes hold of your right hand
    and says to you, Do not fear;
    I will help you.
    Isaiah41:13
    Prayers & Blessings,
    Shari D
